In the early 1980s, Halley begins writing for Arts Magazine and becomes involved in contemporary theory. Peter Halley: Collected Essays 1981–1987 is published in 1988. Inspired by Jean Baudrillard’s theory of simulation, Halley’s own philosophy becomes the basis for Neo-Geometric Conceptualism. Halley founds the magazine Index in 1996.

Serves as Adjunct Professor, U.C.L.A., School of Art and Architecture, Los Angeles

1999

Appointed Senior Lecturer in Painting, Yale University , School of Art , New Haven , Connecticut

2000

Begins teaching as Adjunct Professor, Columbia University , New York City
